Week 3 - Tuesday Evening (after dinner)

[After Ryou has finished speaking with someone else in his room, he walks over to Rin-chan's and quietly knocks on the door. He seems a bit tense, his voice hushed.]

[Rin straightens up at the knock, sitting at her desk with some drawings. Hearing it's Ryou - and that he's sounding a bit urgent - she frowns slightly, but gets up to answer the door anyway.]

Hey, Ryou-kun. What's up? ♪

[onethirdthesoul]

Can I come in? [He glances either way down the hall, but it's as clear as it was before.]

I need to talk to you.

[roadroller]

Eeeh?

[Rin sees him glancing, but sticks her hand on her hip.]

Jeez, Ryou-kun... that's so unlike you. ♪

[onethirdthesoul]

[He flushes with embarrassment, his voice squeaking.]

It's not like that! [But realizing he should probably be quiet, he lowers his voice.] It's serious, so please...

[roadroller]

[Rin peers at him. Well. He does look pretty serious.]

You should at least invite me to your room first! But... I'll let it slide, just this once. ♪

[opening the door a bit wider for him, she stands aside and gestures to one of the cushy chairs.]

[onethirdthesoul]

S-sorry... I just came from my room, and I figured there would be less walking around this way.

[Sliding into the room, Ryou nods his head gratefully once he's inside.]

Thank you. [And he'll take a seat as offered.]

[roadroller]

[Rin finally smiles a little as he sits down, then casually pushes the door shut and takes the other chair.]

Go ahead. ♪

[onethirdthesoul]

[Ryou nods, starting off quietly.] Okay... Well, it's about the last trial.

[roadroller]

Eh? ♪

[Her posture immediately straightens, if just by a little. She's confused, though.]

Did you figure something out? ♪

[onethirdthesoul]

Yeah. I was talking to someone, and they found out who did it.

[Ryou meets her eyes, his brow creased with worry and determination.]

So I wanted to tell you, so you'd be able to stay safe.

[roadroller]

Whoa! Really?! ♪

[She expected a new clue or something, not the killer's identity. This is kind of exciting!]

Who told you? Who did it? ♪

[onethirdthesoul]

I can't tell you who told me, but... It was Feferi-chan.

[He seems pained to admit it, but it is what it is.]

[roadroller]

Isn't it kinda weird to use -chan for someone you're accusing of murder? ♪

[Rin deadpans. But, she looks thoughtful.]

I thought it was either her or Austria... there was a reason we couldn't narrow down the Griffin wing suspects. But, does Anonymous-san have proof? ♪

[onethirdthesoul]

...Oops. [He rubs the back of his head bashfully.] I guess you're right...but we don't want her to know that we know, so it's best not to get into the habit.

But anyway, we had all the proof already...we just put it together wrong. Eridan-kun's robes were bloody at the hem, which means whoever wore them had to be short enough for them to touch the bottom of the boat! Plus... Feferi-chan can see in the dark, and couldn't be Austria-san because she couldn't drag the body and she has a bad sense of direction.

We all thought Feferi-chan was framed because using her own trident would have been too obvious...but that must have been the point.

[roadroller]

[Rin's jaw drops a little at the proof. That did make a lot of sense... but it wasn't something she'd have thought of. And anyway, it wasn't hard to convince her, since she liked Austria a lot more than Feferi.]

Then she really did do it for the sympathy... you know, I thought to myself in the trial that that's probably why she picked Eridan too. What a nasty bitch! ♪

[onethirdthesoul]

... [He grimaces a little at the language, but he's not going to argue the point. It was a cruel thing to do, all the make them believe she hadn't done it.]

Anyway, Rin-chan...please don't let her know that you know, or that I told you. Anonymous-san is trying to spread the information slowly, so Feferi-chan won't be able to target one person for figuring it out...if it comes to that.

[roadroller]

[Rin shrugs.]

Yeah, okay. It'll be really gross having to be all nicey nice with her, but it's a good thing I'm an actress. ♪

[onethirdthesoul]

Just do your best, okay? [He smiles encouragingly, although he's still feeling kind of gloomy.]

[roadroller]

[she nods at that.]

I will. Thanks for telling me, Ryou-kun. ♪

[roadroller]

- But, are you suuuure you can't tell me who told you? I mean, you trust me right? ♪

[onethirdthesoul]

Don't mention it. [He seems a lot less tense than when he came in--at least until Rin-chan asks him to spill the beans.]

I-I'm sure! I was explicitly told not to...

[roadroller]

Why though? It's good to avoid danger, but it's important to know who's safe too. I won't tell them you told me! I just wanna know~! ♪

[onethirdthesoul]

That's true, but...I said I wouldn't. [He's so conflicted! If she didn't tell them, where's the harm, right?

But he made a promise!]

[roadroller]

Ooh. Well, if you just said you would, it's not really a promise! People with free will are allowed to change their minds after all!

[Rin grins deviously.]

But I promise I'll never tell! ♪

[onethirdthesoul]

R-rin-chan, please... [He smiles nervously.] I can't...

[roadroller]

C'mon, just tell me! It's helpful information, that's not a big deal! ♪

[onethirdthesoul]

I really can't! I told Kaoru-sa--aa...

[Ryou stops mid-honorific with a look of pale-faced horror.]

[roadroller]

[Rin's wheedling smile drops into a look of shock as well. Did he really just blurt it out by mistake?]

Eeeh... So it was Kaoru-san... ♪

[onethirdthesoul]

Aahh! [It's settling in now. Ryou buries his face into his hands.] I'm so stupid...!

[roadroller]

[Rin reaches over and pats his shoulder.]

It's fine, it's fine! Nobody has to know you told me. ♪

[onethirdthesoul]

But I know... [Whining mode: activate.] Kaoru-san's never going to trust me again if he finds out!

[roadroller]

[just gonna keep up the shoulder pats here]

But what he doesn't know won't hurt him. Right? ♪

[onethirdthesoul]

[Each shoulder pat sinks him a little further into the hole he's dug himself.]

But... I feel really bad about it.

[roadroller]

Aw... but what's to feel bad about? It's only good things that you told me about him. Cause he found out the real killer. That means he's really smart. It doesn't matter who knows he told, as long as they don't tell Feferi. And I don't even talk to Feferi. ♪

[onethirdthesoul]

I was still told not to... Anyway, Kaoru-san wasn't the one who found out Feferi-chan did it. He relayed the message to me just like I did to you.

[roadroller]

Eeh? Even less of a big deal then!

So is this a chain? Should I pick someone to tell too? ♪

[onethirdthesoul]

It's sort of a big deal...! [Kind of.

Anyway, he moves on.]

...And if you do tell somebody just make sure nobody else knows about it, okay? Kaoru-san wanted use to spread it slowly so Feferi-chan doesn't find out.

[roadroller]

Well... if I don't have to then I'm probably not gonna bother. I don't really care!

... Oh, but does Chiaki-chan know? ♪

[onethirdthesoul]

[Rin-chan is a real team player...]

I wanted to tell her myself, but Kaoru-san really only wanted me to tell one person right now... But he said he would make sure somebody else told her. So Chiaki-chan should know really soon.

[roadroller]

[BETTER THEM THAN US, OK.]

What about Glinda and Athena? Does someone have them? ♪

[actually she's asking a lot of names for someone who doesn't care!!]

[onethirdthesoul]

Oh... I don't know... [He suddenly feels bad for not asking about them.]

But I think the plan is for everybody to find out eventually. I'm not sure how well Glinda-san would take it, though...

[roadroller]

Hmm.... well, she's always top of the board, so she probably won't get targeted anyway. Must be nice. ♪

I tried taking popularity lessons from her, but I don't think they helped.

[He's being serious...]
